  • September 14, 2025

The Third Global Nyéléni Forum on Food Sovereignty is took place in Kandy, Sri Lanka, one of the largest gatherings of social movements in the world. More than 700 delegates from over 100 countries were gathered here, with a common goal: how to build a fairer and more sustainable food system for all.

We are proud that Prof. Dr. Gordana Đurić, from our member organization Foundation “Alica”, participated on the first day of the forum, speaking on behalf of organizations and movements from the Europe and Central Asia region.

In her presentation, she highlighted important priorities:

🌱 preserving genetic resources and farmers’ rights,

🚜 resisting corporate control over food and seeds,

🤝 strengthening local communities through agroecology, fair trade and the democratization of the economy

“Food is a human right that can be secured through true food sovereignty,” was one of the key messages.

The forum lasted until September 13th, and the conclusions and shared vision will be part of a global platform of resistance and solidarity.
